Union Minister for State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Giriraj Singh has approved to establish a Livelihood Business Incubator Centre in Puducherry.
During a meeting organised by the Puducherry chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on manufacturing and SMEs, he said the ministry would establish the centre to provide skill development and training and would help the youth in the region to start their own business.
Stating that Puducherry had a tremendous potential in the MSME sector, the Minister said the administration should focus on cluster units, especially in the garment sector.
On complaints of banks not providing loans to the MSME sector, he said financial institutions had been given clear instructions to lend money to small-scale units.
Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, while speaking on the occasion, said the government had been willing to provide all assistance to industrial units to set up base in the Union Territory.
Revenue Minister M O H F Shahjahan mentioned the government’s plan to encourage leisure tourism by setting up floating casinos and cruise facility.
